DECEMBER 2011 INDUSTRY NEWS:
On December 2nd, Cargill Foods announced that it will reduce its
workforce by 2,000 employees from a global workforce of 138,000
employees. These cuts are scheduled to take place during the
next 6 months.
Chief reason for these reductions is due to the weak economy that demands reduction in expenses. Sadly, many talented workers who have contributed greatly to the success of Cargill Foods will face job loss. We have noticed the continuous loss of sales staff at the packing houses in Alberta resulting in reduction of service. Some of Cargill Foods (Alberta)'s smaller customers will find it more difficult to obtain products and services as Cargill institutes these staff reductions.
